A. Nograsek et M. Matzer, NON-PYRENOCARPOUS ASCOMYCETES ON VASCULAR PLANTS OF THE SEDGE COMMUNITY CARICETUM-FIRMAE .2. SPECIES ON CYPERACEAE AND POACEAE, Nova Hedwigia, 58(1-2), 1994, pp. 1-48
The non-pyrenocarpous ascomycetes on Carex atrata, C. firma, Poa alpin
a and Sesleria varia have been studied mainly in parts of the Eastern
Alps. These four gramineous herbs occur in the Caricetum firmae, an al
pine plant community over shallow calcareous soils in the Alps. A key
for the 44 known ascomycete species is provided. Each taxon is discuss
ed in general, host plants and distribution are indicated, references
to descriptions and illustrations in the literature are given. Five sp
ecies are new to science: Brunnipila longipila, Diplonaevia erumpens,
Lophodermium inflatum, Propolis foliicola and Tapesia caricis-firmae.
''Hyalopeziza '' suecia and Patinella tirolensis are new but not valid
ly described species. All new species are figured by line drawings and
/or photographs. General results of investigations in the ascomycete f
lora (pyrenocarp and non-pyrenocarp taxa) on the mentioned host plants
are presented.
