Abstract
The type of Muscites hauchecornei Caspary & Klebs from Baltic amber ha s revealed to be Trachycystis flagellaris (Sull. & Lesq.) Lindb., a sp ecies of Mniaceae presently known from East Asia. This species was alr eady recorded from the Miocene of Poland. Three species of Trachycysti s are known in Europe from deposits of the Tertiary, although the genu s is extinct in Europe today. The extant range of the genus is almost confined to East Asia, where three species of Trachycystis are known.
