E. Rudolf et al., INFLUENCE OF COLD TEMPERATURE ON BIOLOGIC AL CHARACTERISTICS OF ORIUS-LAEVIGATUS AND ORIUS-MAJUSCULUS (HET, ANTHOCORIDAE), Entomophaga, 38(3), 1993, pp. 317-325
Laboratory studies were done to compare the effect of two cold storage
conditions on longevity and fecundity of two anthocorids, Orius majus
culus (Reuter) and Orius laevigatus (Fieber). Survival of adults is be
tter at a thermoperiodic condition of 13-degrees-C/3-degrees-C than at
a constant temperature of 9-degrees-C. Female longevity decreases as
the duration of exposure to cold conditions increases. Fecundity of O.
laevigatus is not significantly reduced after 50 days of exposure to
thermoperiodic conditions even though those of O. majusculus is strong
ly reduced after 20 days.
