An improved time-domain beam propagation method based on the propagati
on of a quasi-rectangular pulse is proposed to analyze and optimize th
e integrated components in which wide-angle of diffraction or reflecti
on of light are possible. This method can overcome the drawback due to
the modification of short pulse during propagation and reflection ind
uced by the numerical errors and slow-varying envelope approximation i
n the usual TD-BPM. After validating this method for a planar waveguid
e, three 90 degrees reflections on micromirrors are simulated.
