The infrared spectrum of (FClO3)-O-18 has been recorded in the 610-117
0 cm(-1) range, using a Fourier transform spectrometer with a resoluti
on of 0.0024 cm(-1). The nu(1) and nu(2) parallel bands (with bandcent
ers at 1011.107 and 708.235 cm(-1) for the (FClO3)-Cl-35-O-18 isotopom
er and 1007.483 and 699.330 cm(-1) for the (FClO3)-Cl-37-O-18 isotopom
er) have been studied and their resolved J and K structures have been
analyzed. A set of accurate molecular constants has been determined fo
r the ground and nu(1) = 1 and nu(2) = 1 excited states of both isotop
ic species which reproduce ca. 9700 observed lines with a standard dev
iation of approximate to 1 x 10(-4) cm(-1). No perturbation was found
at the present level of accuracy. A r(o) structure of FClO3 has been d
educed. (C) 1994 Academic Press, Inc.
