F. Bender et al., MASS SENSITIVITY OF ACOUSTIC PLATE MODE LIQUID SENSORS ON ZX-LINBO3, The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 95(3), 1994, pp. 1386-1389
Acoustic plate mode (APM) devices have been used as detectors in liqui
d environments. One of the primary detection mechanisms in such device
s is mass loading. In the present work, the potential of APMs as mass
sensitive biosensors is evaluated using five APM devices on ZX-LiNbO3
with frequencies of operation ranging from 13 to 42 MHz. Mass sensitiv
ity is measured as a function of frequency and is compared to data pre
dicted by perturbation theory. Discussions are given relative to typic
al antigen binding capacities of derivatized crystal surfaces.
