H. Franklin et al., INFLUENCE OF THE BONDING CONDITIONS ON TH E WAVES EXISTING AT THE BOUNDARY BETWEEN 2 ELASTIC SOLIDS, Acustica, 80(2), 1994, pp. 147-155
We study the range of existence of interface waves between two elastic
media separated by a bond of thickness small in comparison with the w
avelengths. The boundary conditions describing the bond are those intr
oduced by Jones, The contact at the interfaces is such that the normal
and tangential stresses at the boundary between the two media depend
on the bond parameters. The results of Scholte, in the case of two wel
ded semi-infinite media are then extended. It is shown that there are
zero, one or two interface waves. The physical features of such waves
are discussed.
