PREPARATION AND UTILIZATION OF CHIRAL DIHYDROPYRIDINES - SYNTHESIS OFCHIRAL INDOLOQUINOLIZINES AND BENZOQUINOLIZINES

An asymmetric synthesis of 3-formyl-1,4-dihydropyridines is described that entails the addition of organocopper reagents to activated 3-imid azolidinylpyridine, prepared with chiral diamines. The activator can b e a chloroformate or an acid chloride. The methodology was used for th e asymmetric syntheses of the indoloquinolizine and benzoquinolizine a lkaloid frameworks.
