Abstract
The paper reviews an attempt to establish wild populations of the cyca d Dioon edule Lindl. as a locally valued economic resource. Areas of w ild habitat have been protected to act as a source of propagation mate rial. The cycads are being grown as a village based industry to provid e revenue to supplement traditional agriculture.
