The article evaluates the development of the ornithocoenoses of 21 bio
topes of the cadastral area of Bratislava during the last ten years. T
he authors compare the obtained results with their earlier ones from t
his area. They follow with attention differences in qualitative compos
ition of ornithocoenoses of single biotopes. Up to 1992, 231 bird spec
ies, including 136 nesting ones, were established in the area. During
the last ten years the number of established species increased by 33,
out of this the number of nidificants by 10. The most new species have
been established on water biotopes (64 %). The increase of existing b
ird species the authors explain by ageing of certain biotopes, i. e. b
y improvement of habitat conditions for birds, by opening the frontier
zone by the rivers Danube and March as well as by intensification of
ornithological investigations.
