Abstract
Two-photon absorption (TPA) and non-linear refraction at 532 nm in com
mercial lead silicate glasses are examined by applying a phase distort
ion method. The observed non-linear index of refraction with positive
sign, gamma=+3.6+/-0.6x10(-18) W/m(2) is larger by similar to 10X than
that observed for the wavelength at which the TPA is inhibited. The e
nhancement of gamma is explained tentatively in terms of the dispersio
n of gamma associated with TPA process.
