F. Eugene et al., IMPROVED SYNTHESIS OF TRIFLUOROMETHYL SULFONES USED AS INTERMEDIATES FOR THE PREPARATION OF DISUBSTITUTED OR TRI-SUBSTITUTED OLEFINS, Journal of fluorine chemistry, 66(3), 1994, pp. 301-309
Primary and secondary trifluoromethyl sulfones (triflones) are efficie
ntly obtained from easily available sodium trifluoromethanesulfinate (
triflinate) and alkyl bromides in N, N-dimethylacetamide. This techniq
ue is more powerful than the potassium triflinate/acetonitrile system.
Ethyl aconitate can be also produced in one step from ethyl bromoacet
ate and diisopropylethylamine, sodium triflinate being a catalyst.
