Ej. Hanson et al., PRODUCTIVITY AND QUALITY CHARACTERISTICS OF STRAWBERRY CULTIVARS UNDER MICHIGAN CONDITIONS, Fruit varieties journal, 48(1), 1994, pp. 27-32
Eighteen strawberry cultivars were compared in a matted row system on
a sandy loam soil in southwest Michigan in 1991 and 1992. The most pro
ductive cultivars were 'Honeoye,' 'Annapolis' and 'Lester' in the earl
y season, 'Glooscap: 'Settler' and 'Selkirk' in the mid season, and 'A
llstar,' 'Kent,' 'Jewel' and 'Blomidon' in the late season. 'Lester' a
nd 'Selkirk' rated relatively high in shelf-life characteristics. When
whole berries were frozen then thawed, 'Lester,' 'Selkirk' and 'Allst
ar' rated highest in appearance.
