Abstract
Eighteen strawberry cultivars were compared in a matted row system on a sandy loam soil in southwest Michigan in 1991 and 1992. The most pro ductive cultivars were 'Honeoye,' 'Annapolis' and 'Lester' in the earl y season, 'Glooscap: 'Settler' and 'Selkirk' in the mid season, and 'A llstar,' 'Kent,' 'Jewel' and 'Blomidon' in the late season. 'Lester' a nd 'Selkirk' rated relatively high in shelf-life characteristics. When whole berries were frozen then thawed, 'Lester,' 'Selkirk' and 'Allst ar' rated highest in appearance.
