Hydrogen mobility has been investigated between 125 and 415 K in a Ta7
5Nb25 alloy with the use of the Gorsky relaxation technique. The macro
scopic diffusion coefficient, D(T) shows an exponential temperature de
pendence, contrary to what happens in Ta and Nb. This different behavi
our of D(T) in the alloy is attributed to a reduced tunnelling rate be
tween ground states, resulting from inequalities among the potential w
ells at interstitial sites.
