Abstract
The formation of active hydrogen molecules and atoms on the surface of hydride-forming transition metals and intermetallic compounds are exa mined. It is found that activated hydrogen exists in different forms: as excited molecules H-2, hydrogen atoms and positive ions. Different methods - mass-spectrometry, gravimetry, gas chromatography, EPR and c hemichromic detection - are used to investigate the hydrogen activatio n by LaNi5, Ti2Ni, Ti and Pd.
