Abstract
The recrystallization process in the martensitic stare was clearly dem onstrated for the cold-roiled Ti50Pd50 high temperature shape memory a lloy by electron microscopy and electron diffraction, along with the c hange in hardness with annealing. As a result, the martensite crystals were created by the diffusional process, which had the same orthorhom bic structure as the transformed one, and which had no lattice invaria nt shear characteristic of the martensitic transformation. This is pro bably the first observation of the recrystallization process in marten site on electron microscopic scale. These results are briefly describe d.
