Abstract
A new simple model for a single mode III crack propagation with surfac e dissipation in a two-dimensional elastic sheet is examined. The Wien er-Hopf technique is used to obtain the stationary solutions analytica lly for both subsonic and supersonic regions, and the crack propagatio n velocity is determined as a function of applied distortion. Physical implications of the solution are discussed.
