Square and rectangular jets of several aspect ratios have been simulat
ed numerically entering a uniform and, alternatively, a non-uniform cr
ossflow. From these simulations, which include one-sided and interlace
d two-sided arrangements, the penetration and velocity uniformity down
stream of the jet injection point can be evaluated. Semi-empirical rel
ationships are found to relate the penetration performance with the ge
ometric arrangement for the jet injection schemes studied.
