The linear electro-optic tensor [r(ijk)sigma] (unclamped) and the tens
or of linear electrostriction [d(ijk)] were determined for the isotypi
c title compounds (point group 42mBAR) at room temperature and lambda
= 633 nm. Small electro-optic coefficients (one seventh to one tenth o
f those of KDP), small electrostrictive components (like d111 of alpha
-quartz) and high electro-optic anisotropy (r123/r231 much greater tha
n 1) are the main features of these complex thiosulphates.
