Abstract
A total of 119 species were recorded in tree line/paramo habitat at Ce rro Mongus, Prov. Carchi, Ecuador during March 1992. A complete specie s list with relative abundance designations and habitat preferences is presented. Comparison of our results with a well-surveyed site in ext reme northern Peru reveal striking similarities in species composition between these sites, even though they are separated by ca. 650 km.
