Abstract
Nine cis-trans-trans (CTT) macrocyclic trienes containing various subs tituents have been constructed (scheme 11) and their transannular Diel s-Alder reactions yielding various CAC tricyclic isomers are reported. This work can be taken as evidence that the chair-boat-boat transitio n state can compete with the chair-boat-chair transition state.
