Abstract
Most modern pulp companies have successfully installed distributed com puter systems (DCS) and information management system (IMS). However, process operations still rely on individual operator's experience. The mill operators may find it difficult to contribute a quick solution w hen facing undesirable situations. This paper approaches the problem b y devloping an intelligent system that integrated with DCS and IMS. Th e system fulfills fault diagnosis and decision making by applying case -based reasoning technique. The technologies proposed in developing th e system have shown great advantages.
