Y. Hamasaki et al., PHOTOELECTROCHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF ANATASE AND RUTILE FILMS PREPARED BY THE SOL-GEL METHOD, Journal of the Electrochemical Society, 141(3), 1994, pp. 660-663
Photoelectrochemical properties of titanium dioxide films in the anata
se and rutile form which were prepared by the sol-gel method were inve
stigated. The effects of oxygen defects on photoelectrochemical proper
ties were investigated by varying the reduction conditions such as atm
osphere, temperature, and time. It is shown that (i) oxygen defects pl
ay a key role in photocurrent characteristics, (ii) oxygen defects dra
stically affect electroluminescence characteristics, and (iii) the ele
ctrolumineseence intensity GAMMA(x), infrared band, which peaked at 84
0 nm, is indicative of the degree of reduction.
