Abstract
A novel Raman selection rule has been found for (CdSe)1(ZnSe)3/ZnSe sh ort-period-superlattice multiple quantum wells: both the ZnSe LO1 mode in wells and the ZnSe LO mode in barriers for multiple quantum wells are only observed in the polarized configuration, which is contrary to those for GaAs/AlAs systems found earlier. It can be attributed to th e special behavior of the electron wavefunctions in such multiple quan tum wells.
