Je. Sola et al., RUPTURE OF THE RIGHT DIAPHRAGM FOLLOWING BLUNT TRAUMA IN AN INFANT - CASE-REPORT, The journal of trauma, injury, infection, and critical care, 36(3), 1994, pp. 417-420
Traumatic diaphragmatic rupture is a rare childhood injury and is ofte
n difficult to diagnose. This is particularly true in infants. We pres
ent the case ofa 3-month-old infant with traumatic rupture of the righ
t diaphragm that became clinically apparent only after extubation. The
diagnosis can often be made on the basis of chest radiography and cli
nical signs. Surgical treatment is required. Some phrenic nerve injuri
es can be anticipated and late sequelae may result.
