Jf. Volkwein et Da. Carbone, THE IMPACT OF DEPARTMENTAL RESEARCH AND TEACHING CLIMATES ON UNDERGRADUATE GROWTH AND SATISFACTION, The Journal of higher education, 65(2), 1994, pp. 147-167

teaching and research climates are associated with differences in stud
ent academic outcomes. After examining various student and departmenta
l measures at a research university we conclude that departments with
balanced orientations toward research and teaching have the most favor
able impact on students.
