Gl. Baril et al., MEASURING LEADER-BEHAVIOR - MODERATORS OF DISCREPANT SELF AND SUBORDINATE DESCRIPTIONS, Journal of applied social psychology, 24(1), 1994, pp. 82-94
In line with previous research and our prediction, self- and subordina
te descriptions of the behavior of 92 supervisors are only weakly rela
ted. Also, congruence between these two descriptions is positively rel
ated to three measures of situational control. These findings are cong
ruent with Fiedler's view that leaders describe themselves as they are
in high-control situations.
