Abstract
Sera from 33 pollinosis patients aged 16-33 have been examined for aut oantibodies to neuromediators serotonin and catecholamine, serum sampl es from 21 healthy subjects served controls, Antibodies to dopamine an d norepinephrine (43.0+/-4.0, 35.0+/-0.0 rel. units) have been detecte d in 81.8 % and 69.7 % of the pollinosis patients, respectively. Serot onin antibodies (54.6+/-6.0 rel. units) occurred in the patients 3.8 t imes more frequently than in healthy subjects. Antibodies to neuromedi ators in quantities within 12.0 rel. units were recorded in 9.5-38.0 % of the controls. It is suggested that induction of neuromediator anti bodies synthesis may represent a compensatory mechanism of neuromediat or metabolism control in pollinosis.
