Abstract
In a randomized trial 43 patients with RA systemic manifestations rece ived for 6 months immunodepressants: azathioprin, methotrexate and cyc losporin A (12,15 and 16 patients, respectively). Ten more patients re sistant to immunodepressants were given cyclosporin A. The drugs were found to produce a positive effect on clinical symptoms and laboratory indices of the disease. Cyclosporin A is thought a basic immunodepres sant without serious hematological or infectious complications. Occasi onally it can be useful in failure of other immunodepressants administ ered to RA patients.
