The transient forced convection in laminar flow inside a parallel plat
e channel subjected to periodically varying inlet temperature is solve
d by using a hybrid scheme that combines the generalized integral tran
sform technique with a second-order accurate finite differences. Semi-
analytical results are presented for the variations in the amplitude o
f periodically varying fluid bulk temperature and wall heat flux along
the channel length for different frequencies. An approximate formula
for the decay of the peak bulk temperature amplitude is developed.
