Abstract
This paper reviews new findings on the biological functions of pseudor abies virus (PRV) proteins. It focuses on the role of PRV proteins in the pathogenicity, immunogenicity and transmission of PRV vaccine stra ins in pigs. Furthermore, it evaluates potential risks that are connec ted with the use of PRV vector strains. Special emphasis is placed upo n the spread of genetically engineered vaccine strains within pigs or between pigs.
