Negative pion production by deuterons on light nuclei has been conside
red in the framework of the Intranuclear Cascade model. Characteristic
s of secondary particles have been calculated by means of the Internuc
lear Cascade model for C and Be extended targets. A satisfactory agree
ment with experimental data for thin and extended targets has been fou
nd for different deuteron energies. Dependencies of pion yield on the
target size and deuteron energy have been analyzed in detail.
