Abstract
The crystal structure of the title compound confirms the cis assignmen t for (Z)-3-phenyl-2-(trifluoromethyl)prop-2-enoic acid, C10H7F3O2. Th e two molecules in the asymmetric unit form a hydrogen-bonded dimer bu t have different conformations. One molecule has the carbonyl O atom c t's with respect to the trifluoromethyl group, while the other molecul e has the hydroxyl O atom ct's to the trifluoromethyl group.
