V. Solard et P. Joly, USE OF OBJECT-ORIENTED TECHNIQUES FOR THE REALIZATION OF A FAULT MANAGEMENT PROTOTYPE, Annales des telecommunications, 49(1-2), 1994, pp. 42-48
In order to prepare the next generation of network management systems,
France Telecom/CNET experiments the newly standardized concepts of te
lecommunication management network. In this context a fault management
prototype has been realised using an object oriented environment. Thi
s prototype is composed of a network element simulator and a managemen
t system connected through a full Q3 interface. It provides alarm surv
eillance functions compliant with the OSI network management forum spe
cifications. The software development allowed to prove that object ori
ented techniques are well suited to implementation of network manageme
nt applications, and to assess the various tools and design choices.
