J. Indulska et K. Raymond, APPLICATION OF ODP AND TYPE MANAGEMENT CONCEPTS TO NETWORK MANAGEMENT, Annales des telecommunications, 49(1-2), 1994, pp. 57-64
Future network management systems will operate in large, wide-area net
works created from heterogeneous and autonomous networks. Such an open
environment will increase the complexity of network management to the
extent that it has common requirements with any wide-area distributed
application. To handle such complexity, network management can be mod
elled using an RM-ODP approach. The paper presents an ODP-based type m
anagement which was formulated to support interoperability of distribu
ted applications and shows how network management can benefit from it.
Also type templates of managed objects defined by GDMO have been rela
ted to the ODP-based type description.
