Abstract
A broadband Fourier spectrum can arise either from a large number of l inear modes, or from complex nonlinear interactions among a few. A met hod for differentiating between these two cases is presented. Nonlinea r dependences amongst the bases of the reconstructed phase space are t ested for using radial basis functions.
