Abstract
Expression of the entire open reading frame of hepatitis A virus was a chieved in a vaccinia virus/T7/EMCV hybrid system. The expressed antig ens were characterized as particles with buoyant densities and sedimen tation coefficients typical of emtpy capsids and pentamers of HAV. Thi s was further confirmed by electron microscopy. All capsid proteins we re determined as components of the particles which raised neutralizing antibodies in an immunized rabbit.
