Abstract
The present study included 238 elderly patients (65 years and over) wi th the purpose to evaluate dental status and conditions of prosthetic appliances. A total of 140 (59%) patients were totally edentuolous wit h significant increase in prevalence of edentulousness with increasing age. Of the 83 dentate elderly, 25% needed extraction and 34% conserv ative treatment. Analysis of the state of fixed and removable prosthod ontic appliances showed poor condition and requirement for renewing th e treatment in 69% of patients.
