Rotational alignment of the product SrBr in the beam-gas reactions Sr
+ RBr (R=CH3, C2H5, n-C3H7, and i-C3H7 was studied in experiment and t
heory. The rotational alignment was probed by means of the polarized l
aser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) of the product. The distributions of
the rotational vector become less anisotropic with the increment of th
e numbers of the carbon atoms in RBr. Moreover, a simple dynamical mod
el was used to calculate the product rotational alignment. The theoret
ical results are in good agreement with the experimental ones.
