Abstract
Due to its easy application, modern Near Infrared instrumentation is p aid increasing attention when considering quality control in the chemi cal plant. The philosophy of spectrometric quality control and its pos sibilities and limitations are discussed on the basis of information t heory considerations. Considering a group of 74 polymer with the aid o f principal component analysis (PCA), a system could be designed for s uccessfully controlling the quality of incoming products.
