H. Torii et al., GENETIC POLYMORPHISMS IN HLA-A, HLA-B, HLA-C AND HLA-DR ANTIGENS IN JAPANESE PATIENTS WITH PALMOPLANTAR PUSTULOSIS, Dermatology, 188(4), 1994, pp. 290-292
Genetic polymorphisms in HLA-A, -B, -C and -DR antigens were investiga
ted in 78 unrelated Japanese patients with palmoplantar pustulosis (PP
P) and compared with a total of 472 normal persons. Only HLA-DR9 showe
d a significantly increased frequency among all HLA antigens investiga
ted (chi(2)=11.57, p<0.001). It is suggested that major histocompatibi
lity complex class II antigens including HLA-DR antigen may determine
the susceptibility to PPP and PPP may be a distinct disease entity fro
m psoriasis.
