Magnetic susceptibility measurements have been used to determine the m
artensitic transformation characteristics in porous titanium nickelide
. It has been established that the magnetic susceptibility of porous t
itanium nickelide is temperature dependent, and is a superimposition o
f the orientational paramagnetism due to the impurities in the oxygen
containing phases combined with the hysteresis loop caused by the mart
ensitic transformation. Deformation of porous titanium nickelide produ
ces a significant increase in magnetic susceptibility that is partiall
y eliminated by annealing.
