Two primary sine-nasal melanomas are presented which were characterize
d by their botryoid growth pattern and myxoid stroma. These polypoid t
umours contained small amounts of melanin and only focal areas of epit
helioid cells. An in situ component was present in both of the tumours
. Malignant melanoma should be considered when confronted by a myxoid
tumour (with or without melanin) in the sine-nasal region. These tumou
rs are widely infiltrative, and there is no evidence to suggest that t
hey will behave any differently from conventional, non-botryoid, non-m
yxoid sine-nasal melanomas.
