SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF ORDERED POLYIMIDE-ESTER-AMIDES

Ordered polyimide-ester-amides have been synthesized by solution polyc ondensation of aromatic dihydroxy compounds containing preformed amide groups with diacid chlorides incorporating imide units. These polymer s have a good solubility in polar aprotic solvents, such as NMP, DMF, DMA; their solutions are stable when stored for a long time. Thermogra vimetric analysis shows no weight loss up to 300-degrees-C, and the de composition begins over 350-degrees-C. Concentrated polymer solutions gave transparent coatings when cast on metal substrates.
