Abstract
The effect of pretreatment with a 4-day course of ciprofloxacin (500 m g twice daily) on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of a singl e oral dose of temazepam (10 mg) was investigated in 12 healthy young and nine elderly patient volunteers in a crossover design study. Temaz epam clearance was lower in the elderly than in the young, but this di fference was not statistically significant. Ciprofloxacin had no signi ficant effect on temazepam pharmacokinetics or pharmacodynamics in eit her age group.
