Abstract
This paper gathers the data dealing with lithium, its effects and its possible mechanisms of action in plants. Lithium tissue levels, absorp tion and transport features, toxicity threshold and intracellular dist ribution are reviewed. Known effects of lithium on plant systems are l isted. Finally, possible mechanisms of action of lithium are discussed .
