Abstract
A Q-value of 4.046 +/- 0.102 MeV has been determined for the two proto ns transfer reaction Gd-160(O-18, Ne-20)Sm-158 at 98.95 MeV. This resu lt yields a first experimental measured value of -65.738 +/- 0.102 MeV for the mass excess of Sm-158, the nucleus far from stability. The re sult is compared with current theoretical predictions.
