Vy. Averchenkov et al., DURATIONS OF NEUTRON AND X-RAY PULSES GENERATED IN HIGH-VOLTAGE NANOSECOND DISCHARGE IN DEUTERIUM, Instruments and experimental techniques, 36(6), 1993, pp. 909-911
The durations and shapes of the X-ray and neutron pulses generated by
a high-voltage nanosecond discharge in deuterium at a pressure of appr
oximately 0.3 torr and a voltage amplitude of approximately 0.6 MV in
sealed tubes with T-targets were measured using SNFT-3 and SNFT-8 scin
tillation detectors with SPS-B10 plastic. The durations of the radiati
on pulses after data processing by the Gold method was tau0.5(n) = 2.3
+/- 0.4 nsec and tau0.5(gamma) = 1.2 +/- 0.3 nsec. A tube can withsta
nd more than 10(3) pulses with a DT-neutron output of approximately 2
. 10(6) n/pulse.
