A. Kuhn et al., QUALITY-OF-LIFE AND DAILY COPING OF CHRON IC-SCHIZOPHRENICS - A QUALITATIVE EXPLORATORY-STUDY, PPmP. Psychotherapie, Psychosomatik, medizinische Psychologie, 47(2), 1997, pp. 64-71
The results of this qualitative exploratory study show that chronic sc
hizophrenics partly cope successfully with the multivarious demands of
everyday life, including the consequences of their illness. They most
ly realize a relatively high level of quality of life. There is a dist
inct connection between the concrete institutional-therapeutic setting
conditions and the multiplicity of participation in social life or th
e available ways of coping. We identified favourable and unfavourable
coping modes as well as starting points for therapeutic interventions.
A qualitative analysis of the individual case seems to be absolutely
required, in order to estimate their efficiency.
