Iv. Klimenko et al., VARIATION OF THE PHYSICOCHEMICAL PROPERTI ES OF CARBON-FIBERS DURING BROMINATION, Vysokomolekularnye soedinenia. Seria A, 38(12), 1996, pp. 2019-2026
Pitch-based carbon fibers brominated for different time periods were i
nvestigated. Their electrical conductivity was measured; IR spectra an
d Raman spectra were recorded; fibers brominated for different periods
of time (up to 144 h) were also studied gravimetrically. The whole bo
dy of data was treated from the viewpoint of structural changes that t
ake place in the fiber during the bromination. These changes involve t
he destruction of the graphite structure, growth of the content of the
amorphous phase, and an increase in the number of graphite layers adj
acent to bromine.
